R*n 227: Littledale

Run 227 or The Story of Noah of Caton Moor (based, very loosely indeed, on Genesis chapters 6-8)

This is the story of Noah, also known as Bubbles.

And God said to Bubbles, Lo, these Hashers are getting very old, and soon will not be able to run at all, for they will be in their fifties. And so you must hold a party, and you must invite to the party a male and a female of every kind of hasher. Store up enough food for yourself and for them.

And Bubbles did everything the Lord told him to do.

And God said to Bubbles, Lo, I am going to send rain on the earth that will last for forty days and nights, and Lo, there will be no summer. And you are to take all those hashers, and make them run a long, long way, and I will send rain on their heads.

And you must mark the trail, so that they do not turn to the right or to the left. And you must mark fish-hooks, but they will ignore them, for they are a stiff-necked people and they will not have listened to your instructions in the Opening Circle. And so the FRBs will run miles ahead of the Knitting Circle, and they will not repent, for I have hardened their hearts.

And Bubbles did everything the Lord told him to do.

And the hashers went forth into the rain, and they got very wet, and their shoes were soaked through, because of the flood.

But Lo, God put a rainbow in the sky, to show that he would have mercy, and the hash would soon be finished, and the hashers would soon find shelter.

And so they ran, and they squelched, and they marvelled at the rainbow, and they came at last to the Marybank ark, which had landed on Mount Caton Green, and they tasted the chilli which had been made by Noah's wife, Forever Blowing, and it was very good.
